Welcome to Friday Focus! Today I would like to talk about one of the greatest advances in orthodontics today: digital impressions. It’s a common orthodontic practice to make molds of a patient’s teeth and mouth in order to get a 3-dimensional graphic representation of the bite. It’s one of the least liked orthodontic procedures by everyone involved, particularly patients. It can definitely be an uncomfortable procedure, frequently causing a gag reflex in the patient. Fortunately, there is a new solution and we are going to implement it. We will be introducing digital scanners (iTero) into all of our offices in the upcoming months.
iTero Digital Scanners
The iTero digital scanning system applies computer technology to create a digital 3D model of the teeth and soft tissue structures. Unlike the messy, standard impressions which use trays and putty-like material and can take up to 20 minutes to complete, we can use this mess-free technology to get the job done in just minutes. The iTero digital scanner is also highly accurate, making it possible for us to visualize your jaws and teeth from all angles. This precise accuracy allows us to come up with the optimal treatment for your own personal and unique orthodontic needs.
We will use iTero digital scanners for Invisalign treatments. Therefore, if you have been avoiding Invisalign because you didn’t want to have to deal with impressions, that is no longer a concern you should have. We can now take a digital scan, giving you a quicker and easier experience at the onset of your treatment. Throughout every aspect of your treatment with E&S, we are constantly improving our techniques to give you the best possible experience.
E&S Orthodontics is dedicated to providing our patients with the most convenient, effective and safest treatment options available today. Please do not hesitate to contact us at 623-376-6464 if you have any questions about our new digital scanning capabilities and/or you’d like to schedule a complimentary consultation. We look forward to seeing you.
